Hi dear visitor !
Because my participation in the party of Where bloggers create II, I will be writing this post in English (my blog normally is in Dutch, my native language). Most of the visitors will not be able to read Dutch, so it was the most polite thing to do ;-)
I do have a translator on my blog, but writing in English is a good exercise for me.
We live in our home for 8 years now, and I used our kitchentable for most of my sewing-work, but since we have a few cats, who are always willing to help me in every kind of way (just not the RIGHT way) I felt I had to make a space for myself, so I had some peace on my mind and I could gather all my hobbymaterials around me.
We have 3 bedrooms in our home, 1 is our master bedroom, and 1 room is for the boyzz, so the only room left, was our kittenroom. Since we only have 2-3 litters each year, this room is empty (read: not used) most of the time.
I decided that I could have at least 1 wall for my stuff...

The little white cupboard is from our old bathroom. Before we remoddeld the bathroom last december, I used this cupboard for my towels. I salvaged this cupboard and now it is in use for my books and knittingwool and small fabrics for quilting. The books have various themes. From interior design to gardening, painting and sewing. You will also find a book with "Tips from Grandma" with all of these good-old things from years ago (how to remove stains from your clothes, how to clean with natural cleaningproducts etc)
The jamglasses are re-used for my sewingthreads and ribbons and you can see that I gave my little teddybears a high place so they could watch over me. The preservingglasses are not used for preserving food anymore, so I discovered I can use them for storing craftmaterials. Tidy, clean and dustfree. Simple solution !
The sidetable has been in our livingroom for some years, but was darkbrown and I did not like it anymore since I started painting lots of our furniture white. It went upstairs and I forgot all about it, until I started thinking about my "craftroom". I painted it white, just to match the little cupboard and now I have a space for my sewing-machine.
This little dresser in the corner needs to be painted white also (or maybe replaced by another one), but I didn't find the time yet.
On top of it you will find some see-through containers with my paints & brushes, beautifull fabrics and also one for my teddybear and knitting materials.
Also there are 3 containers with the materials for the catshows. Since we have a cattery and visit catshows frequently, we always have showcurtains, blankets etc ready to grab for a show. And they needed a place in the house also, so why not in my "craftcorner" ?
I also collected some nice magazines over the years. Various one, like
Country Homes & Interiors (an interior magazine from the UK)
Wonen, Landelijke Stijl (an interior magazine from the Netherlands)
Knip Mode (a Dutch magazine with sewing patterns)
Ariadne At Home (a Dutch magazine, about interiordesign, craftideas etc)
Tuin & Co (a Dutch garden magazine)
Because the archives are getting full, I decided to look in old magazines for ideas and inspiration and I put these in a little book that I call "Book of Inspirations" and which I keep at close hand. The old magazines where thrown away and this gave me some new space. Yeahhhh ! My boyfriend thinks I am acting like a grandma (thank you dear, I am just 34 !!), because I started knitting. I haven't knitted since I was in primary (elementry) school, but I recently started on a cardigan for myself. I found a very nice shop near our village, run by 2 lovely old ladies, who helped me getting started and offered me that I could come back if I needed more help. Watch my blog for updates on the knitting !
The craftspace in this room is not big, I don't have many supplies and materials, but I am proud of what I create and also with the space I have now. It is a work in progress, just like the crafting and I know it is no fancy interiordesign, but it works for me and I feel happy with it !
My latest "creation" is the memobord that you can see hanging on the wall.
It was loads of fun making this memobord and I guess it is not the last I will be making ;-)
To decorate it, I used some childhood pics of my sweetheart and some little things that make me smile.. for instance the little sissors. They have belonged to my grandfather.
Sweet tidy space with creative storage and cute cuddly companions! Thanks so much for sharing your studio!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSuch a wonderful space- I have never heard of a kitten room, but I love cats and I am assuming that you breed them! Thank you for visiting my blog and for sharing yours- I find it so very charming! I will be back!

Hello Angelique!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYour studio is so bright and cheerful and organized!!! Such a wonderful place to create!
Thank you for your sweet comment at my blog, and I hope you have a beautiful weekend! :)

I love the wooden crates with the fabric and the hanging jam jars. Knitting is not grandma-ish at all. I am glad that so many people are now taking it up.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love your sweet space. The colors are so pretty together...the grey, orange and turquoise. I love the white...don't worry about not being done with some of the furniture. Isn't that the way most of us really live? You will get to it when the time is right! BTW, your English is very good.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSome day, come and take a peek at my daughter and my blog. It is three months old and not really just about my jewelry. I love paper crafting...she loves a million other things like vintage fashion. We were not in any shape to photograph but I am loving the tours.

Hi Angelique,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI think your space is wonderful. We all sort of have to do what works for us, don't we? My favorite idea of yours is the jam glasses that you have your thread in. What a great concept!
Thank you for the tour. It might be a long time before I see your part of the world in person but I do enjoy the virtual travel of blogland.

Hi Angelique!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMy "Oma" and my favorite person was Dutch! And, she was a fantastic knitter! I wish I would have appreciated THAT while she was still alive...I do lots of crafts and sew too,,,,but I'd love to learn to knit-more than a scarf!
I still have family in Holland that I keep in touch with! My favorite Cousin, recently passed away,,,,and that was a BIG loss, He was such a wonderful man! His son, Fonger Kranenberg, owns a Wine Shoppe in Amsterdam and writes a newsletter that is distributed throughout Holland and Europe.
I want to visit this year! I also have a sister in Germany and one in Ireland...
Stop by my blog and say hello if you would like. I'm already "following" your blog and would love to hear from you!

I like the way you've used the jam jars and your inspiration book. Wonderful way to reduce your magazine collection and keep only the things that inspire you. Thank you for inviting us to visit your space!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love the hanging jars and those crates..everything is so organized and so pretty. Thanks so much for sharing your studio with me.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI'd love for you to come over for a stroll through my studio. It's been an ongoing transformation for almost a year since I moved in to our new home.
Have a wonderful day,
Stephanie ♥
Hoi,
Madelon
Thank you for the tour and thank you for translating! The little wooden crates inside the shelf and the hanging jam jars are wonderful.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou have a beautiful workspace...and very good English!

Lovely, sweet space you have there to create in. and roomy too. A feature I don't have in mine so it is one of the first things I seem to notice in others. Thanks for sharing it all with us.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAngelique, thank you so much for taking the extra energy to write your post in English. That was so very thoughtful of you! I really enjoyed the tour of your space. The blue/grey color on your walls is lovely. Make sure you tell your boyfriend to quit giving you a hard time about the knitting. Tell him all the cool girls in America do it all the time!! LOL!!

Hi Angelique,
Groetjes,
Annemiek
What a wonderful craft room! I particularly love that wall holder with the basket on top and rod on bottom holding the jam jars, genius! Thank you for sharing your creative haven.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's fun to see a participant from the Netherlands! Your work with the cats sounds very interesting.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYour room is very cute. Thanks for visiting.
I was curious if you ever considered changing the structure
BeantwoordenVerwijderenof your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1
or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
